RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Stephen Maxwell scored 17 points to lead a balanced offensive effort and Cal State Northridge defeated UC Riverside 69-53 on Saturday night.
Brandon Perry scored 12 points and Josh Greene added 10 for Cal State Northridge (12-11, 3-8 Big West).
Tre Hale-Edmerson helped Cal State Northridge build a 36-27 rebounding advantage with 10.
Cal State Northridge also had a 28-10 scoring edge in the paint, 11-4 edge in second-chance points and 25-13 margin in points off the bench.
UC Riverside (5-17, 2-8) had a 5-point lead early in the first half, but that quickly faded, and the team trailed by 7 at halftime.
Chris Harriel led UC Riverside with 16 points and Chris Patton had 11.
