Rashad Hassan scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half to lead Savannah State to its seventh consecutive victory, 52-42 over Howard on Saturday in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game.

Hassan's three-point play with 6:21 remaining broke a 38-38 tie and started a 10-0 run for the Tigers (12-9, 6-1). The senior forward made 8 of 12 shots from the field and all eight of his free throws, including four in the final 2 minutes.

Savannah State raced to a 14-6 lead in the opening 8½ minutes, but the Bison (4-18, 1-7), who have lost six in a row, came back to tie it at 22 at the half.

Preston Blackman added 11 points and five assists for the Tigers, who are holding their opponents to an average of 54.6 points per game.

Brandon Ford scored 13 points and Mike Phillips 11 to lead Howard.
