Denver QB Manning named Comeback Player of the Year

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year Saturday, as voted by the Associated Press.

Manning, who received 31 1/2 votes to easily outdistance Minnesota Vikings running back and 2012 NFL MVP Adrian Peterson (17 1/2), completed 400-of-583 passes for 4,659 yards with 37 touchdowns against just 11 interceptions.

It was his first season in a Denver uniform after sitting out the 2011 season with neck problems. Manning underwent four surgical procedures on his neck.

Manning led the Broncos to a 13-3 mark and into the playoffs after completing a league-best 68.6 percent of his passes.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (1) was third in the voting.
