Corey Petros scored a career-high 28 points on 12-of-15 shooting, leading Oakland to a 96-81 victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday.

Travis Bader added 24 points and was 13 of 14 from the free-throw line for the Golden Grizzlies (11-13, 6-4 Summit League), and Duke Mondy chipped in 17 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Drew Valentine had 14 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.

Justin Simmons led the Mavericks (8-17, 5-7) with 25 points, and CJ Carter added 21. Nebraska-Omaha had its three-game winning streak snapped despite shooting 52 percent from the field. Free throws made the difference: Oakland was 28 of 38 from the line, while Nebraska-Omaha attempted only seven foul shots and made them all.

The Golden Grizzlies took control midway through the second half, using an 18-6 run to lead 81-72 with 4:51 left. Seven free throws in the final 1:41 helped Oakland ice the win.
