The Boston Celtics revealed Friday that forward Jared Sullinger underwent successful surgery to repair damage in his back.

The lumbar disc procedure was performed at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston under the supervision of Celtics team physician Dr. Brian McKeon.

Sullinger will miss the remainder of the season, but is expected to be ready for the 2013-14 campaign.

The 6-foot-9 Ohio State product averaged 6.0 points and 5.9 rebounds in 45 games this season for Boston.
