Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs has been ruled out of action for three weeks with a thigh strain, it was announced Thursday.

Gibbs sustained the injury in the club's 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Wednesday, being forced off of the pitch in the 37th minute.

"He has a thigh strain that rules him out for the next three weeks. It's a blow for us of course," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. "He was an important player for us going forward and the game we wanted to play. It's a shame he's out for the next three weeks."

Gibbs will miss Premier League meetings with Stoke City and Sunderland and could be out for Arsenal's massive Champions League encounter with Bayern Munich.
