Damon Heuir scored 28 points, Jackson Stevenett added 20 and Southern Utah scored 53 points after halftime Thursday night to rally past Sacramento State 79-67.

Heuir added seven rebounds and seven assists and was 13 of 14 from the free-throw line. Heuir and Stevenett combined for all five 3-pointers for the Thunderbirds (8-12, 6-5 Big Sky), who won their third straight.

Dylan Garrity scored 18 off the bench for the Hornets (10-9, 5-6), and Mikh McKinney added 17. Sacramento State shot 32 percent from the field and had only five assists.

The Hornets led 39-26 at halftime, but a 12-2 run to open the second half got the Thunderbirds back in the game. Stevenett's 3-pointer with 9:24 to play put Southern Utah ahead 52-50, and the Thunderbirds went on to lead by as many as 12.

Southern Utah shot 50 percent from the field, including 60 percent after halftime.
