Stoke-on-Trent, England (Sports Network) - Stoke City confirmed Thursday that it has signed highly-rated England goalkeeper Jack Butland from Birmingham City for a fee of approximately $8 million.
Butland, who is regarded as one of England's brightest prospects, will remain at Birmingham on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 19-year-old rejected a move to Chelsea earlier this month to avoid a potential spell on the sidelines behind Petr Cech.
