Barcelona midfielder Xavi has signed a two-year contract extension that ties him to the club until June 2016.

Xavi becomes the latest player to pledge his future to Barcelona after captain Carles Puyol signed a new deal last week, while Lionel Messi recently inked an extension that keeps him at the Camp Nou until 2018.

The 33-year-old Xavi has become a central figure in the success of Barca since coming up through the youth ranks at the club.

During his time in the first team, Xavi has helped Barcelona capture six La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, two FIFA Club World Cups and a pair of Copa del Rey crowns.

The Spain international has appeared in all 21 league games for Barca this term, scoring five goals and assisting on five more.
