Sevilla earned only its second win in nine La Liga games on Monday as the club produced a 3-0 home win against Granada.

Ivan Rakitic played a big part in the victory as he assisted on the first two goals, while Alvaro Negredo netted his team-leading ninth goal of the campaign.

Granada had earned seven points from its last four matches, but the loss leaves the club only two points above the relegation places.

Rakitic set up the opening goal in the 32nd minute when his corner kick found Geoffrey Kondogbia at the near post, allowing the defender to turn a header past goalkeeper Roberto.

Jesus Navas nearly scored a spectacular goal for Sevilla three minutes later when his acrobatic overhead kick was pushed past the post by the goalkeeper, but the home side added to its lead after halftime.

Rakitic had a hand in the second goal 20 minutes from time when he got into the penalty area on the left and floated a ball to the front of goal for Negredo, who got up to head it beyond the reach of Roberto.

Gary Medel then capped the scoring five minutes later with a close-range volley after he collected a deflected shot at the back post.
