Marseille fell three points back of Ligue 1 leaders Lyon on Saturday after Romain Alessandrini's 88th-minute goal forced the club to settle for a 2-2 draw at Rennes.

Marseille's Andre Ayew netted the lone goal in the first half when he combined with Mathieu Valbuena inside the penalty area before slotting his shot past goalkeeper Benoit Costil.

The home side equalized after the break from a corner kick as Alessandrini played the ball into the six-yard box, where Kevin Catherine got up to head it home.

Marseille looked poised to claim all three points in the 82nd minute when Morgan Amalfitano's cross was volleyed past Costil by Jordan Ayew at the far post, but Alessandrini had other ideas.

Abdoulaye Sane delivered a cross toward the front of the net that Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda got his hands to. However, he could only parry it into the path of Alessandrini, who was left with a simple tap in to rescue a point.

The bottom two teams in Ligue 1 both collected rare wins on Saturday as Nancy and Troyes both came away with 2-1 victories.

Nancy earned its second win of the campaign as Sebastien Puygrenier scored the winner in the 71st minute against Lorient, while Troyes got goals from Fabien Camus and Stephane Darbion before giving a goal back to Brest's Eden Ben Basat.

Evian remains one point above the relegation places after a 1-1 draw with Ajaccio that saw Daniel Wass cancel out a first-half goal from Ajaccio's Dennis Oliech.

Montpellier climbed into seventh place after a 2-0 victory over Sochaux courtesy of first-half goals from Emanuel Herrera and John Utaka, while Reims earned a point at home against Toulouse as Grzegorz Krychowiak scored the equalizing goal in the 74th minute of a 1-1 draw for the hosts.
