Newcastle, England – Newcastle United confirmed on Friday the club has completed the signing of French midfielder Moussa Sissoko from Ligue 1 side Toulouse.
Sissoko moves to England on a 6 1/2-year contract and becomes the Magpies' fourth signing of the current transfer window.
He came up through the ranks at Toulouse and made his debut for Le Tefece in August 2007 before scoring 23 goals over 218 appearances. He has also been capped six times by his country.
"I am delighted to be a Newcastle United player," Sissoko told the club's official website. "This is a massive club playing in the best league in the world, and I believe my style of play is suited to the Premier League."
Sissoko becomes the fourth French player to arrive on Tyneside, joining defenders Mathieu Debuchy and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and striker Yoan Gouffran.
"This transfer window has been very productive and Moussa arriving today is a massive plus for the club," manager Alan Pardew added. "He will bring drive and energy, he is a winner and that's why I'm especially pleased to have him with us."
Newcastle United sit in 16th place on 21 points, just two clear of the drop zone.
