Mattia Destro is facing approximately two months on the sidelines as the Roma striker gets set to undergo knee surgery, it was revealed Friday.
The 21-year-old injured his knee in Roma's defeat of Inter Milan in Coppa Italia play this week. He left the match to receive medical examinations, which revealed the extent of the injury.
"Mattia Destro twisted his right ankle and left knee during the Coppa Italia semifinal first leg," read a statement on the Roma website. "The player underwent two rounds of tests which identified a tear to the lateral meniscus in his knee.
"He will therefore require an operation via arthroscopy, which will be performed by Professor Cerulli in Rome over the coming days."
