The Chicago White Sox claimed right-handed pitcher Zach Stewart off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday.

Stewart appeared in 18 games with the White Sox last season before being traded to Boston, where he made two starts. Over 35.2 total innings pitched, he combined for a 1-4 record with an 8.58 earned run average.

Stewart broke into the big leagues in 2011, making three starts for the Toronto Blue Jays before he was dealt to Chicago. He went 2-6 with a 5.88 ERA in 13 combined games, including 11 starts, in his first major league season.
