The Dallas Stars and restricted free agent center Jamie Benn agreed to terms on a five-year contract on Thursday.
The 23-year-old will make $26.25 million for the duration, at $5.25 million per season.
"Jamie Benn has proven in his short, but very productive NHL career, that he is not only this franchise's cornerstone player, but also an emerging superstar in the league," said Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk. "We believe that Jamie has the necessary tools to continue his growth and lead this team into the next great era of Dallas Stars hockey."
Benn posted career highs in goals (26), assists (37) and points (63) in 71 games for Dallas last season, the final year of his initial entry-level contract. The effort led to his first career All-Star selection.
Over his first three NHL seasons, the native of British Columbia has posted 70 goals and 160 points in 222 contests.
