Barcelona, Spain – Barcelona announced Tuesday that captain Carles Puyol has put pen to paper on a contract extension with the Catalan giants.
It had been reported before La Liga's winter break that Puyol, along with Lionel Messi and Xavi, had committed their long-term futures to the club.
The 34-year-old defender finally inked the extension, keeping him at Camp Nou until 2016.
During his time with Barcelona, Puyol has claimed five La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues titles, two FIFA Club World Cups and two Copa del Rey crowns.
