Milan, Italy – Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder finally completed his move to Turkish side Galatasaray after a lengthy negotiation process.
Sneijder had a falling out with Inter after he refused to sign a new contract that would require him to take a pay cut, and he has not featured for the Nerazzurri since a 2-0 win over Chievo in September.
Inter and Galatasaray agreed on a transfer fee of $10 million earlier this month, but Sneijder delayed the move as he considered his options on personal terms.
However, the Turkish side has confirmed on its website that Sneijder has accepted a 3 1/2-year contract to join the team.
"I'm really enthusiastic about going to Turkey," Sneijder told Galatasaray's television channel. "I've heard that so many people are waiting for me in Istanbul, I know the Turkish fans are fantastic.
"I'm happy to play for a club like Galatasaray. I can't wait to play my first game and to meet (coach) Fatih Terim. Together we'll do great things. I'll make him proud to have bought me."
Sneijder joined Inter in 2009 from Real Madrid and went on to help the team capture the treble in 2010.
The 28-year-old featured in 29 matches for Inter in all competitions last season, scoring five goals, and he joins a Galatasaray side that has reached the knockout round in the Champions League and will face Schalke next month.
