The Atlanta Hawks snapped the Brooklyn Nets' seven-game win streak Wednesday night in Atlanta.
The Nets can start another one, and exact some revenge against the Hawks when the two meet Friday night in the back end of the home-and-home at the Barclays Center.
"It'll have a playoff feel to it," Hawks head coach Larry Drew said on Thursday. "It'll be a tough game. They play very well in their own building."
The Hawks were without forward Josh Smith, who was suspended one game by the team for conduct detrimental to the team, when they beat the Nets Wednesday. He'll be back in the lineup Friday.
"We can do things differently with Josh," said Drew. "Josh gives up flexibility match-up wise."
Drew went eight deep Wednesday night and six scored in double figures, led by the 28 of point guard Jeff Teague, who also handed out 11 assists. Devin Harris was next with 18, followed by Al Horford's 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Zaza Pachulia started in place of Smith on Wednesday and scored 13 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out eight assists. Kyle Korver and Lou Williams were the other Hawks to score in double-digits.
The Hawks desperately needed a victory. They were 2-7 in their last nine prior to the Nets win.
Brooklyn was 9-1 under new head coach P.J. Carlesimo, but didn't play much defense on Wednesday. The Nets allowed the Hawks to shoot 57.7 percent from the field.
Brook Lopez led the way with 22 points, then, it was Joe Johnson with 15 points.
This was the first time Johnson was back in Philips Arena, although, for the first time in seven years as a visitor. He made six All-Star games as a member of the Hawks and knew his old team would be prepared to stop him.
"We knew the Hawks weren't going to let me play," acknowledged Johnson. "We knew they were going to trap me every time I caught the ball. We just didn't seem to make the right reads."
Deron Williams, Andray Blatche and Kris Humphries also scored in double figures.
The Nets were down 16 at the half and got as close as 12, but that would be all.
The Hawks have now won six in a row against the Nets.
