A person familiar with the moves has told The Associated Press that the Buffalo Sabres have placed three players on waivers, including defenseman Adam Pardy.

The Sabres, on Thursday, also placed minor league forwards Nick Tarnasky and Kevin Porter on waivers, the person said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the team has not announced the moves.

Pardy is a three-year NHL veteran who was acquired along with center Steve Ott in a trade in which the Sabres dealt Derek Roy to Dallas in July. NHL teams had until noon Thursday to place players on the 24-hour waiver list before they can set their 23-man regular-season rosters on Friday.

If the players go unclaimed, they will be re-assigned to the minors.

Pardy's pending departure leaves Buffalo with eight defenseman.
