Kevin Young poured in a team-high 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the sixth-ranked Kansas Jayhawks fended off a pesky Temple side, 69-62, on Sunday at Allen Fieldhouse.

Travis Releford netted 14 points and freshman standout Ben McLemore added 13 points and six rebounds for the Jayhawks (12-1), who have won 11 in a row following a loss to Michigan State back in November.

Elijah Johnson posted nine points and nine assists, and Jeff Withey donated eight points to go with 11 rebounds and nine blocks in the triumph.

"He was terrific," Kansas coach Bill Self said of Young's performance. "We rebounded the ball above average. We just didn't turn them over. If we could just eliminate our unforced errors, or half of them, this game would not have been a game that came down to the last minute."

Khalif Wyatt scored a game-high 26 points and added six rebounds for Temple (10-3), which was going for its second win over a top-10 team this season, having beaten then-No. 3 Syracuse on December 22.

Anthony Lee and Will Cummings donated 11 points apiece for the Owls in the loss.

Cummings buried a trey to give the visitors a 57-54 advantage with five minutes to play, but Young answered with a pair of free throws at the other end and McLemore slammed home two a few minutes later to give Kansas a 58-57 edge with 2:42 to go.

Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson split a pair from the line on Temple's first possession following a media timeout to make it 60-58 with 1:52 left, but Young made two more from the charity stripe and Releford put the dagger in the heart of the Owls with a 3-ball to make it 65-58 with 37 seconds on the clock.

Releford made a pair of free throws to widen the margin to seven and the Jayhawks held on for the win.

"I thought our kids did a good job," Temple coach Fran Dunphy said. "I thought we managed the game about as good as we could for a long stretch. "When we had a four-point lead, we quick shot it twice and that led to them tying the score and then they made some big plays at the end. We had some looks and couldn't get the ball to go down, but I'm very proud of our guys"

It was a close game early on as a layup by Cummings with 13:57 left in the opening half cut the Owls' deficit to 12-8, but the Jayhawks then used a 10-2 burst to create some separation.

McLemore started the run by nailing a deep trey, then capped it with a pair of free throws to give Kansas a 22-10 lead with 9:44 to play.

Temple battled back with a 9-1 flurry, capped by a Lee jumper to bring the Owls within 23-19. Releford snapped the Temple surge with a layup and added another a minute later to push the hosts' advantage to 27-21 with 5:08 on the first-half clock.

Cummings drained a layup later in the half to make it 29-25 Kansas and the Jayhawks took a 33-27 lead into the locker room.

The teams went back and forth for most of the second half until a pair of Wyatt free throws gave Temple a 54-50 lead with just under seven minutes left.

Johnson hit consecutive layups to tie the game for Kansas before Cummings' 3- ball put the Owls on top, 57-54.
