The Grizzlies moved into a tie with the Suns for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, percentage points behind the idle Mavericks for seventh. Phoenix lost to San Antonio on Friday.
Memphis has three games remaining, including one with both Phoenix and Dallas to close out the regular season.
"This is very much a business trip because of everything we've been through all season long," said Memphis head coach Dave Joerger. We'll really hone in. It is easy to look at the Phoenix game, but we have to take care of business."
Thaddeus Young and Tony Wroten netted 18 points apiece for the Sixers, who have dropped three straight. Memphis native Adonis Thomas made his Philly debut, scoring four points.
"It was a dream come true just to wear an NBA jersey in Memphis," said Thomas. "There were a lot of supporters here tonight. I'm just thankful to be able to come back home and play."
Gasol made his first five shots from the floor, adding a free throw for 11 first quarter points. The Grizzlies led by as many as nine in the period and took a 30-24 margin into the second.
Miller matched Gasol's first quarter output in the second, netting 11 points on a perfect 3-of-3 from the arc. The Sixers hung around, however, and trailed by just 10, 57-47, at halftime.
Memphis finished the third on a 20-5 run, highlighted by Gasol's second 3- point basket of the season with 3.5 seconds left. That made it 87-64, and the hosts rolled the rest of the way.
The Sixers never led.
