The Cleveland Browns have placed wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi on injured reserve and elevated quarterback Thad Lewis from the practice squad to the active roster.

Massaquoi started five games this season, possibly his last with Cleveland. His contract expires in March and the former second-round pick (No. 50 overall in 2009) may not be part of the team's future plans. He finished with 17 catches for 245 yards this season. He's made 118 catches for 1,736 yards and seven touchdowns with Cleveland.

Massaquoi did not play Sunday in Denver because of a knee injury.

Although Browns coach Pat Shurmur has not ruled out starting rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden from this week's game in Pittsburgh with a right shoulder sprain, the club promoted Lewis, who could be Colt McCoy's backup if Weeden sits for the finale.
