AKRON, Ohio – Nick Harney scored 19 points off the bench and Zeke Marshall had 18 to lead Akron to an 87-57 victory over Cleveland State on Sunday.
Demetrius Treadwell had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Zips (6-5), and Alex Abreu and Jake Kretzer scored 11 apiece.
Junior Lomomba led the Vikings (7-5) with 16 points, and Bryn Forbes scored 13.
The Zips shot 53.2 percent from the field (33 of 62) and 37.5 percent from the 3-point line (9 of 24), while the Vikings hit only 34.6 percent (18 of 52) and 25 percent (5 of 20).
The Zips also won the rebound battle 43-23.
Akron led 23-11 midway through the first half and cruised to a 42-25 advantage at the break due in large part to outscoring Norfolk State 20-6 in the paint and holding an 11-5 lead in turnovers.
