The New England Patriots needed a deep threat so they signed Brandon Lloyd.

They ended up with an acrobat.

Lloyd has made many airborne, twisting catches in his first season with the Patriots and is closing in on his career-high for receptions. With two games left, he has 67, just 10 short of the 77 he had in his best pro season in 2010 with the Denver Broncos.

In last Sunday's 41-34 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the 10-year veteran had a career-high 190 yards receiving and 10 catches.

Lloyd played for two seasons with the Broncos under coach Josh McDaniels in 2009 and 2010. McDaniels is now the Patriots offensive coordinator.

The Patriots (10-4) visit the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-12) on Sunday.
