Drew Brees says he'd be "shocked" if Sean Payton ends up coaching anywhere other than New Orleans next season.
The Saints quarterback says he's "not even thought for a second" that Payton might field offers from other teams because of the NFL's rejection of language in Payton's 2011 contract extension, leaving the coach's status for next season in doubt.
Payton is serving a season-long suspension in connection with the NFL's bounty probe of the Saints and has not commented on his contract.
The Saints have struggled without him and play this Sunday at Dallas, where Payton served as a top offensive assistant from 2003 to 2005.
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett says appreciates Payton's Dallas connections but ignores speculation that he could be replaced by the suspended Saints coach.
