McNeese State announced on Tuesday its football team will play at the University of Nebraska in 2014.

The game will be played Sept. 6.

The two programs have met once in 2002, when Nebraska earned a 38-14 win.

"Being able to compete against the best teams in the country is one of the privileges of playing at McNeese and we look forward to that opportunity," McNeese State athletic director Tommy McClelland said. "Our fans always talk about how nice everyone associated with the Nebraska football program was the last time we played there. When you have good experiences like that, you try and schedule those teams again."

McNeese State had a 7-4 record, including 4-3 in the Southland Conference, this season.
