Nonito Donaire of the Philippines used a third- round knockout of Mexican challenger Jorge Arce to retain his WBO Junior Featherweight title on Saturday night at Toyota Center.

Donaire (31-1, 20 KOs) knocked down Arce (61-7-2, 46 KOs) in the second round before sending the Mexican to the canvas again in the third.

Arce made his way back to his feet, but Donaire dropped him again late in the round and referee Laurence Cole counted Arce out with a second left in the third to make Donaire the victor.
