AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong will take no further part in his team's season after he ruptured his left Achilles tendon on Sunday in a 4-2 win over Torino.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury in the first half of the win and Milan expects him to be out for the next 5-6 months, bringing an end to his first season at the San Siro.
De Jong was signed over the summer from Manchester City and established himself as a key piece in Milan's midfield, making 12 appearances in the team's 16 Serie A contests this season.
The Dutchman also featured four times in the Champions League group stage for the Rossoneri, who finished second in Group C to secure a place in the knockout round.
