Inter Milan moved into second place in Serie A on Sunday after securing a 2-1 win over Napoli at the San Siro.

First-half goals from Fredy Guarin and Diego Milito put the Nerazzurri on its way to three points, while the only reply from the visiting side was a goal from Edinson Cavani early in the second half.

Inter moves one point clear of Napoli with the result and trails leaders Juventus by four points.

Poor marking by Napoli led to the opening goal in the eighth minute as Guarin coasted in unmarked at the back post to redirect a corner kick past goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis.

Napoli squandered a number of chances after that, and Inter took advantage by going two goals up before the break as De Sanctis got a hand to Milito's shot but couldn't prevent it from finding the net.

Cavani scored from close range in the 54th minute after a scramble in front of the Inter goal, and the hosts survived a late scare when Cavani's low cross was almost redirected into his own net by Inter defender Alvaro Pereira.
