Chase Tapley hit six 3-pointers and netted 23 points in No. 17 San Diego State's 84-70 win over UC Santa Barbara.

Jamaal Franklin added 14 points, five assists and four rebounds, while JJ O'Brien finished with 12 points for the Aztecs (7-1), who have won seven straight since losing their season opener against Syracuse.

San Diego State made 11-of-17 from beyond the arc in the victory.

Kyle Boswell tallied 23 points and nailed seven triples for UC Santa Barbara (3-5), which has dropped three of its last four contests.

"They have a bunch of weapons you have to respect," Boswell said of the Aztecs. "If you're going to give up one thing they are going to exploit you in another way."

Alan Williams netted 18 points and Taran Brown finished with 16 in defeat.

UCSB's lone lead of the game was 5-4 after Brown knocked down a trey, but the Aztecs responded with a 14-0 run.

O'Brien had six points during the surge and San Diego State led, 18-5, with 13:57 left in the opening 20 minutes before taking a 46-29 edge into the break.

The Aztecs were 6-of-8 from 3-point range in the stanza.

"We shot the ball about as well as I've seen a San Diego State team since I've been here shoot it in the first half," SDSU head coach Steve Fisher said.

The hosts' margin swelled to as many as 27 in the second half.
