HOOVER, Ala. – Neighboring rivals Maryland and Georgetown will meet in the NCAA's men's College Cup.
The two teams play Friday in the semifinals, hoping for a spot against either Indiana or Creighton in Sunday's championship game.
This is Georgetown's first College Cup appearance, and the Hoyas are hoping for at least one more first. They have lost in all 28 previous meetings with the school located about 12 miles away.
It's the teams' first meeting in three years.
Seven-time national champion Indiana, the 16th seed, made the College Cup for the first time since 2004. The Hoosiers have beaten defending national champion North Carolina and top-seeded Notre Dame.
This is Creighton's second straight trip. Both teams had to win two games on the road to advance to Hoover's Regions Park.
