Trey Burke had 20 points and seven assists as No. 3 Michigan remained undefeated with a 73-41 victory over Western Michigan at Crisler Center.

Nik Stauskas added 11 points and Mitch McGary dropped in 10 for the Wolverines (8-0), who have won their first eight games of the season for the first time under coach John Beilein.

Darius Paul was the lone member of the Broncos (6-2) to score in double figures with 10 points as Western Michigan had its six-game win streak snapped.

Paul also pulled down 10 rebounds.

"Some of our talent was able to take over a game when we didn't have anything," Western Michigan coach Steve Hawkins said. "Tonight, when things broke down or when execution wasn't there, our talent was not going to take over the game. They just have better players."

The teams traded baskets over the opening minutes of action until Burke capped a 9-2 spurt with a shot from beyond the arc to give Michigan an 18-11 lead near the midpoint of the first half.

The Broncos scored four of the next six points to get back within five, but they would get no closer than that as the Wolverines closed out the first half with a 15-6 run to carry a 35-21 advantage into the break. Tim Hardaway, Jr. began the clip with a three-point play, while Stauskas and Caris LeVert added triples.

Western Michigan never threatened in the second half, trailing by at least 11 points and by as much as 37 as Michigan shot 50 percent from the field while holding the Broncos to just 21.7 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes.

"I think we're playing really well offensively, and we did a good job down the stretch in the second half on defense," Burke said.
