Bilbao, Spain – Spain striker Fernando Llorente confirmed Tuesday he will leave Athletic Bilbao at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old Llorente declined a new contract offer from Bilbao and he will depart the club when his contract expires in the summer. He will follow Javi Martinez out of Bilbao, after he left for Bayern Munich this year.
"Yes, I'm leaving on 30 June," Llorente said. "I want to try other things."
Llorente scored a team-high 17 goals last season, but has just one goal and one assist in nine matches this season.
He debuted for Spain in 2008, and has seven goals in 21 matches for the World Cup and Euro champions.
