Just three days after not tendering a contract offer to catcher Geovany Soto, the Texas Rangers signed him to a one- year deal on Monday.
Although financial details were not released, the pact is believed to be worth $2.75 million plus incentives.
Soto, 29, split time between the Chicago Cubs and the Rangers last season, in which he hit a paltry .198 with 11 home runs and 39 RBI in a combined 99 games.
Over eight major league seasons, Soto is a career .248 hitter with 82 home runs and 289 RBI.
The Rangers are also reportedly closing in on a two-year deal with former All- Star closer Jaokim Soria.
