Marchisio powers Juve past Torino

Claudio Marchisio tallied a pair of second- half goals to lead Juventus to a 3-0 win over 10-man Torino on Saturday, moving Juve five points clear at the top of Serie A.

Torino's Kamil Glik changed the complexion of the match in the 36th minute when he was sent off for a poor challenge on Juve's Emanuele Giaccherini.

Migjen Basha of Torino was called for handling the ball inside his own penalty area, which gave Andrea Pirlo the chance to put his team in front from the spot. However, Pirlo failed to find the net and Torino reached the break on level terms.

But the visitors weren't as fortunate in the second half as Marchisio scored for the first time on a diving header, while Sebastian Giovinco doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a shot that eluded the reach of goalkeeper Jean Francois Gillet.

There was no way back for the visitors after that and Marchisio notched his second goal of the contest six minutes from time, helping Juve claim its second win in five matches.
