Catania, Italy – Stephan El Shaarawy scored two goals in the second half as AC Milan rallied for a 3-1 win over Catania on Friday in Serie A at the Stadio Angelo Massimino.
Nicola Legrottaglie scored less than 11 minutes into the game for Catania, but a red card to Pablo Barrientos four minutes into the second half sparked Milan to the win.
El Shaarawy scored four minutes after the red to tie the match, Kevin Prince- Boateng put Milan in front in the 56th and, after Prince-Boateng was sent off, El Shaarawy added his second of the match and league-high 12th this season.
Milan followed its huge win over Juventus on Sunday with three more points in Catania, as it climbed to seventh in the table on 21 points. Milan has three of its six wins this season over its last five matches.
Catania lost its second straight and sits ninth in the standings.
Juventus will try to rebound Saturday in the Derby della Mole, as Torino heads to the new Juventus Stadium.
Juve has struggled in its last four Serie A matches, falling to Inter Milan to have its 49-game league unbeaten streak snapped in early November, tying Lazio 0-0 and losing to Milan last week.
But overall, Juve remains atop the standings and in control of its destiny in the Champions League. Juve visits Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday, when a tie is enough to seal a spot in the knockout stage at the expense of Chelsea.
Torino has just three wins and 15 points through 14 matches in its return to Serie A, but with a win and three draws in its last five league matches, has played better of late.
On Sunday, second-place Napoli takes a four-game unbeaten streak into its home game against last-place Pescara with Juve just two points away in first.
Third-place Fiorentina hosts Sampdoria on Sunday unbeaten in its last eight in Serie A, as it looks to close a four-point gap on Juve.
Fourth-place Inter will try to end a three-match winless stretch that includes two losses when it hosts Palermo on Sunday, and fifth-place Lazio will try for its third win in four when it hosts Parma.
Also Sunday, Bologna hosts Atalanta, Genoa hosts Chievo, Siena hosts Roma, and Udinese hosts Cagliari.
