Barcelona defender Dani Alves is expected to miss up to three weeks because of a hamstring injury, the club confirmed on Monday.

Alves limped off the field during Barcelona's 4-0 win at Levante on Sunday and a club statement said that he has undergone tests which have determined a muscle strain in his right hamstring.

The Brazil international had a similar problem with his other leg earlier this season and he joins a list of injured players at Barcelona that includes Marc Bartra, Marc Muniesa, David Villa, Isaac Cuenca, Alexis Sanchez and Eric Abidal.

A regular in the Barcelona lineup, Alves has been limited to nine La Liga games this season because of injury problems.
