Lyon needed a win at Toulouse on Sunday to move to the top of Ligue 1, however the visitors left the Municipal Stadium with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Toulouse, keeping them one point off the pace.

A five-match unbeaten streak helped Lyon move to within reach of the league's top spot, and the club had a game in hand on leaders PSG.

But Toulouse snapped a three-match losing skid in a big way on Sunday, getting two goals from Ben Yedder and another from Etienne Capoue in the second half.

Toulouse took control from the start of the game and Yedder rattled the woodwork after a good spell of pressure before he finally opened the scoring early in the second half.

Yedder got on the other end of a cross from Franck Tabanou to nod the ball off the post and into the net, while he put the result beyond reach in the 87th with his ninth goal of the campaign.

Capoue added another goal in injury time, and once again it was Yedder who had a big hand in it, setting up a simple finish for his teammate.

Marseille 1, Lille 0

Marseille, France - Marseille joined PSG at the top of the league on Sunday after recording a 1-0 home win against Lille for its second victory in seven games.

The match was scoreless as it headed for halftime but Lille was reduced to 10 men just before the whistle when Florent Balmont was shown a red card for a foul on Marseille's Mathieu Valbuena.

The hosts took advantage just after the break to go in front as Valbuena crossed to the middle of the area for Jordan Ayew, who nodded the ball past goalkeeper Mickael Landreau.

From there, Marseille was able to see the match out and will face Lyon on Wednesday with the two sides separated by one point.

Montpellier 1, Bordeaux 0

Montpellier, France - Bordeaux saw its run of three successive Ligue 1 wins come to an end on Sunday as defending champions Montpellier handed the visitors a 1-0 defeat courtesy of Remy Cabella's second-half goal.

Montpellier entered the day on the fringes of the relegation zone after drawing its last three games, but an early chance nearly led to a goal as Marco Estrada's corner kick struck the post.

Bordeaux was bidding to move into the top three with a win, but instead suffered its second defeat of the season when Romain Pitau's cross found Cabella inside the area and he deposited the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso.
