Hilary's 230 all-purpose yards help Coastal Carolina top Bethune-Cookman 24-14 in FCS playoffs

Aramis Hilary threw for 180 yards and a touchdown and added 50 on the ground as Coastal Carolina defeated Bethune-Cookman 24-14 Saturday in the first round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

Hilary completed 19 of 24 passes and his 3-yard touchdown to Matt Hazel gave Coastal Carolina (8-4) a 14-0 lead with 7:16 left in the half after a scoreless first quarter.

Bethune-Cookman (9-3) forced Hilary to fumble and throw an interception on each of Coastal Carolina's first two possessions of the second half but could not capitalize.

Jeremy Height led Coastal Carolina's rushing attack with 78 yards and Marcus Whitener, who had just 12 rushing yards all season, finished with 73 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

Whitener's 14-yard touchdown gave Coastal Carolina an early 7-0 lead.

The Chanticleers take on Old Dominion in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 1.
