Munich, Germany – Bayern Munich cruised to comfortable victory on Saturday, thrashing Hannover 5-0 at the Allianz Arena.
Five different scorers helped the Bundesliga leaders complete the rout, lifting Bayern to 34 points through 13 games.
Javi Martinez set the tone by opening the scoring in just the third minute of play.
Bayern saw its lead extended to three goals before the halftime interval as Toni Kroos and Franck Ribery scored in the 24th and 37th minutes, respectively.
There proved to be no way back for visiting Hannover as Dante and Mario Gomez scored four minutes apart in the second half to seal the emphatic win, Bayern's 11th of the season.
Hannover has lost two straight in league play, staying put on 17 points.
Borussia Dortmund 2, Mainz 1
Mainz, Germany - Borussia Dortmund moved up to second place in the Bundesliga on Saturday, coming from behind in a 2-1 victory over Mainz.
Marco Caligiuri had given Mainz a fourth-minute lead, but Marco Reus and Robert Lewandowski scored in the 11th and 43rd minutes, respectively, to lift the reigning champions to 25 points on the season.
Dortmund remains nine points behind first-place Bayern Munich, while Mainz's second straight defeat leaves the club stuck on 17 points.
Schalke 1, Eintracht 1
Gelsenkirchen, Germany - Schalke and Eintracht dropped two points off the pace of Bundesliga-leading Bayern Munich on Saturday as the two sides played to a 1-1 draw at the Veltins Arena.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar put the home side in front in the 11th minute, but it was canceled out two minutes later by Stefan Aigner.
Eintracht's Karim Matmour was sent off three minutes from time, leaving Schalke little time to take advantage of the extra man. The two sides remain tied, improving to 24 points apiece.
Wolfsburg 1, Werder Bremen 1
Wolfsburg, Germany - Wolfsburg went unbeaten in three Bundesliga contests, making the most of Lukas Schmitz's sending off in the 62nd minute to earn a point in a 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Bremen were in the driver's seat thanks to Marko Arnautovic's opener in the 35th minute, but Schmitz was given his marching orders just after the hour- mark. Bas Dost leveled the score two minutes later to help Wolfsburg improve to 15 points.
Werder Bremen climbs to 18 points with its fifth draw of the season.
Greuther Furth 0, Nurnberg 0
Furth, Germany - Greuther Furth and Nurnberg were reduced to 10 men but neither side managed to produced a goal as they played to a 0-0 draw at the Trolli Arena on Saturday.
Nurnberg's Markus Feulner was sent off in the 35th minute, but Greuther Furth's man-advantage was erased in the 61st minute when Sercan Sararer was banished to the dressing room as well.
Greuther Furth remains second from bottom with eight points on the season, five points back of Nurnberg.
