SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Corey Hawkins scored 29 points and J.T. Adenrele added 19 to lead UC Davis to an 87-76 victory against Sacramento State on Tuesday night.
Ryan Simpkins added 15 points and Ryan Howley seven points and 15 rebounds for the Aggies (1-2), who overcame a 33-24 halftime deficit.
Dylan Garrity scored 22 points and John Dickson 18 for the Hornets (3-1), who shot just 35.8 percent (24 of 67) from the floor.
A 22-3 run over a 7:45 second-half stretch gave UC Davis control. Tyler Les hit two 3-pointers during the surge, which was punctuated by a Hawkins shot from behind the arc that gave the Aggies a 50-38 lead with 10:50 remaining.
Sacramento State, which went scoreless for 4:15 as UC Davis rallied, did not get closer than five points the rest of the way.
