D.C. United confirmed Wednesday that the club has parted ways with Branko Boskovic by mutual consent for personal reasons.

"I have had some private family matters for several months now," Boskovic said in a club statement. "It's a difficult decision for me after a very good season here. I think that we will get better and better, but now I must leave. I wish all the best to this team and this club. This city is going to be my heart in the future."

The 32-year-old started 12 games during the 2012 regular season and came off the bench 14 times, totaling seven assists on the campaign.

Boskovic, who joined the club as a Designated Player in 2010 before renewing his contract as a non-DP in 2012, produced United's final goal of the season, scoring in the second leg of the club's Eastern Conference final. It was not enough to help D.C. overturn the aggregate score as it was bounced from the postseason by the Houston Dynamo.
