Rod Rucker scored 25 points and pulled down 12 rebounds and Alabama-Birmingham used 26 second-half free throws to rally and beat Prairie View 76-70 Tuesday in nonconference action.

Jordan Swing, Fahro Alihodzic and Isiah Jones had 10 points apiece for UAB (3-1). Swing, Alihoszic and Jones combined to go 16 of 16 from the free-throw line.

Rucker, who was 8 of 12 from the field, could have crossed the 30-point threshold, but went just 9 of 17 from the line.

Prairie View (2-4) shot 51.5 percent (17 of 33) en route to a 38-33 halftime lead. They led the entire half.

UAB, however, opened the second half with 13 consecutive points to take a 46-38 lead with 14:18 left to play.

The Blazers pushed its lead to as much as 11, 55-44, in the second half and didn't let Prairie View get any closer than five during the period.
