A pair of first-half goals from Carlos Vela propelled Real Sociedad to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Monday at the Anoeta Stadium.
Sociedad dropped into the bottom half of the league after a run of just one win from its last five games, but Vela made sure his side snapped that poor run of form as he scored twice in the opening 45 minutes.
The goals came two minutes apart and the first was set up by Diego Ifran, who allowed the Mexican to finish off the play from six yards.
Ruben Pardo had a hand in the second goal, with Vela deposited inside the far post with a left-footed effort.
Rayo had won its last two games to move into the middle of the league table, but there was no way back for the visitors when Mikel Gonzalez scored from close range just after the hour mark.
Sociedad capped the scoring 13 minutes from time with a goal from Gonzalo Castro.
