Backed by Pat Moore's career-best 31 points, Colgate held off Coppin State for an 88-84 nonconference victory Sunday.

Moore tied a career high with seven 3-pointers, including six in the first half, as he notched 23 points before intermission.

The Raiders (2-3) led handily for most of the second half, but a late Coppin State (0-4) charge, capped by Troy Franklin's 3-pointer, pulled the Eagles within 86-84 with eight seconds left.

Colgate and Coppin State each committed turnovers in the ensuing three seconds, with Damon Sherman-Newsome stealing the ball off the Eagles' Andre Armstrong, then drawing a foul with three seconds left. Sherman-Newsome hit a pair of free throws to ice the Colgate victory.

The Raiders trailed 17-11 early, but Moore hit consecutive treys to knot the score, then made a layup to give Colgate its first lead. The Raiders never trailed again.
