ROCK HILL, S.C. – Juvonte Reddic scored 17 points to lead five players in double figures as Virginia Commonwealth blew out Winthrop 90-54 Saturday.
Treveon Graham added 14 points and Troy Daniels chipped in with 11 points for VCU (2-1).
Briante Weber led VCU in scoring off the bench with 14 points, and Melvin Johnson added 12 points as VCU's bench outscored Winthrop (1-1) 34-8.
VCU led at halftime 48-26.
Winthrop turned the ball over 21 times, which VCU converted into 35 points.
The Rams shot the ball effectively in the second half and did not let Winthrop back in the game. VCU shot 50 percent (14 of 28) in the second half outscoring the Eagles 42-28. Winthrop shot 31 percent (9 of 29) in the second half.
Derrick Henry scored 23 points and hit four 3-pointers for Winthrop, but he was the only Eagle in double figures.
