Tyler Benz threw two touchdown passes and Dylan Mulder booted three field goals as Eastern Michigan defeated Western Michigan 29-23 Saturday.

Benz had scoring throws of 5 yards to Donald Scott and 8 yards to Alex Gillett while completing 13 of 21 passes for 137 yards for the Eagles (2-9, 1-6 Mid-American). Dominique Sherrer also scored on a 3-yard run.

Western Michigan (4-8, 2-6) had more offensive yards than Eastern — 443 to 369 — but settled for Andrew Haldeman field goals on its three second-half scoring drives. Alex Carder was 29 for 50 passing for 328 yards and TD passes of 1 yard to Blake Hammond and 25 to Justin Collins, who had nine catches for 101 yards.

The Broncos were playing their final game of the season. Eastern Michigan wraps up next week against Northern Illinois.
