Suarez rescues Liverpool at Stamford Bridge

Luis Suarez salvaged a point for Liverpool by scoring in the 73rd minute to lift his club to a 1-1 draw Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues held a lead for much of the match after John Terry, fresh off of his four-game ban, nodded home a corner kick in the 20th minute for his first goal of the season.

Liverpool struggled to test Chelsea, but the Reds made the most of a set piece in the second half when Jamie Carragher flicked the ball on to the back post for Suarez to narrowly beat the offside trap and nod his shot into the back of the net. The Uruguayan sits tied with Manchester United's Robin van Persie atop the Premier League scoring chart with eight goals apiece.

The result drops Chelsea out of second place in England's top flight. The Blues, who are winless in their last three league games, sit third in the table on 24 points.

To make matters worse for Roberto Di Matteo's men, Terry left the match on a stretcher before halftime with an apparent knee injury, though it was not diagnosed immediately following the game.

Liverpool has drawn three straight in Premier League play to improve to 12 points on the season.

Manchester City 2, Tottenham 1

Manchester, England - Edin Dzeko continued his penchant for nabbing late goals this season as he came on as a substitute to score Manchester City's winner in a 2-1 defeat of Tottenham at the Etihad on Sunday.

Tottenham found itself in front by halftime thanks to Steven Caulker's 21st- minute strike, but City battled back through Sergio Aguero's equalizer in the 65th minute and Dzeko's decisive goal two minutes from time.

The Citizens move into second place in the table with 25 points, two points shy of first-place Manchester United. Tottenham has dropped two straight to stay put on 17 points.

West Ham 1, Newcastle 0

Newcastle, England - Kevin Nolan returned to Sports Direct Arena to bite the hand that once fed him, scoring the lone goal in West Ham's 1-0 defeat of Newcastle on Sunday.

The former Magpie produced the telling goal in the 38th minute and the Hammers held on to move into sixth place with 18 points on the season.

Newcastle's three-game unbeaten run comes to an end as Alan Pardew's side sits mid-table on 14 points.
