PSV moved into first place of the Eredivisie table on Sunday after thrashing Heerenveen 5-1 at the Philips Stadion.

Daniel De Ridder handed visiting Heerenveen a shock lead in the sixth minute, but Luciano Narsingh leveled the score in the 23rd minute to send the two sides into the halftime interval even.

They were far from level after the final whistle as PSV exploded for four goals in the span of 34 minutes.

Dries Mertens gave PSV the lead in the 52nd minute and the squad never looked back. Georgino Wijnaldum extended the scoreline in the 62nd minute before Tim Matavz bagged a brace to put an exclamation point at the end of the result.

PSV climbs to the Eredivisie summit with 30 points, becoming the first club in the Dutch top flight to reach 10 wins. Heerenveen remains stuck on 13 points.

Twente dropped out of first place after its 0-0 draw with third-place Vitesse. The clubs have amassed 29 points and 25 points, respectively.

Also in the Eredivisie on Sunday, Ajax cruised to a comfortable 4-2 defeat of Zwolle and Feyenoord toppled 10-man Roda 5-2 at De Kuip Stadion.
