Markel Brown and Le'Bryan Nash scored 16 points each as Oklahoma State held off UC Davis 73-65 on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

Phil Forte hit three big shots in the second half and finished with 13 points for the Cowboys, who shot 40 percent from the field. Jean-Paul Olukemi added 10 points for OSU. Freshman Marcus Smart had eight points and seven assists.

Corey Hawkins scored 13 points, Ryan Howley 11 and Josh Ritchart 10 for the Aggies. Howley had 13 rebounds as UC Davis outrebounded the Cowboys 43-29.

UC Davis led 51-48 with 12:20 to play, and the game was tied 61-61 with 5:10 remaining. Forte hit a 3-pointer to put OSU up 66-61 and drained another key field goal to make it 70-65 with two minutes remaining.
